World cup has started and I didn't watch the opening match
Saturday, June 10, 2006

World cup has started yesterday in Germany. I didn't watch the opening game because I had some thing to do. There is another reason for not watching the opening match. The reason is very simple, I don't want to follow up something will be after the opening match scrambled. I was disappointed when the German channels (ZDF, ARD, and RTL) didn't broadcast the matches .I will wait until the final match to resume my watching.

  1. Mustafa, I am not 100% sure about ARD and RTL ... but I know for sure that ZDF broadcasted it because I saw it on that station after I had returned home from the area of the stadium where I took the pictures! I'd be VERY astonished, would ARD, which is the 1. German station not have brought it as well! About RTL I don't know ... but can check another time if or if not the show it! All in all I feel very sorry you couldn't see it - it was a good game! You couldn't see the opening ceremony either then?? I'm really very sorry!!!

    Watch it on:
    TSR2 Hotbird 11527 27500 H
    TSI2 & SF2 Hotbird 12400 27500 H

All three are broadcasting all the games in German, French and Italian. Everybody is watching them here in Tartous.

you should be able to manually add the frequencies i've listed to get these swiss channels. if you can't, may be you just need to take it to a shop where they update the software for you. if your receiver is very old (i mean more than 4 years) then may be you can't. i have a cheap korean "strong" receiver. all i did was, under manual tuning, to enter the frequencies and click search and voila 6 swiss channels, 3 of which showing the games.
hope you can make it work

  10. A word to Abufares ...
Thanks so much for clarifying what exactly to do in order to get things to work! I have a problem understanding why - if someone can receive ARD/ZDF and RTL .. can't see the games! I mean .. ZDF for example remains ZDF all over the world so why does it broadcast here and not in Syria? It just doesn't make sense in my head ...

Come see the pictures in my blog ... there are a bunch of impressions!!

Mustafa .. I HOPE you'll be able to see the rest of the championship at least!

  13. abufares i searched the frequencies and got the channels, but they don't work. Could it be that they work in Syria and only the countries neighbouring around it, im in kuwait but none work.

it could be that your receiver doesn't decypher the signals like the newer ones. i have a friend in jordan who's watching the games on the swiss channels, same as here.
